Josiah Crook Owner of Drastic Repairs LLC and The Computer Den

As a kid, Josiah was always trying to fix everything, usually making it worse. Sometimes he just wanted to see how something worked (clocks mostly) , so he’d take it apart and quickly discover that it actually didn’t work… at least… not anymore.

He received a Radio Shack electronics snap kit for Christmas around the age of 8 or 10 and started reading about what resistors, capacitors, transistors, etc. were, and how they worked. Now it was time to make something cool. Turn signals for his bicycle! That project took a few years to come to fruition, but it started with building a flasher circuit from scratch and learning to solder.

Fast forward to his late teens and he had already repaired Xbox 360 controllers and all those clocks he broke as a kid. But now it was time to get a phone. It was an Iphone 5S which needed a screen. That went well, but then he thought, “I can fix this identical phone with a bad battery.” But he put a long screw where a short screw should have been (AKA “long screw damage”) and broke a few traces on the first layer of the circuit board. After watching tons of Youtube videos, he actually managed to repair his mistake. But it cost him over $1000 for the micro-soldering station, microscope and other supplies needed.

In 2017, Josiah custom built his own computer and upgraded it several times throughout the next few years, learning all the things not to do. 😜

He moved on to car repair for a few years and learned how to weld and even more about electronics diagnostics.

For one of those computer upgrades, he wanted a graphics card upgrade. He bought a broken GTX 1080 Ti and… completely destroyed it. He then bought a few other graphics cards and had a some successes, slowly turning into more and more.

At that point, he could apply his knowledge to pretty much any electronic device, which led to game console, computer, and other repairs.

On March 1st 2026, Josiah bought The Computer Den after working alongside the founder, Rich Harris, for a couple weeks.

Now he strives to honor God in his work, and personal life.

The assets of The Computer Den were purchased by Drastic Repairs LLC on March 1st, 2026, and Josiah Crook continues to repair computers and game consoles with the same great integrity that Rich did.

The founder of The Computer Den
Rich Harris and his wife, Joyce

The Computer Den was created in April of 2004 by Rich Harris and his wife Joyce. Rich grew up in Randolph, NY, and joined the U.S. Navy when he was 18. He spent 12 years in the NAVY and was Honorably discharged in 1988. He was a AE (Aircraft Technician), which he worked on a wide variety of military aircraft. Anything from T2C Buckeye Jet Trainers to P3 Orion Anti-submarine Warfare Aircraft. During this time, Rich attended a variety of schools and courses ranging from electronics, computer systems, to aeronautical engineering through AVIC-7 School. His wide range of skills in the electronic and computer field made him a perfect candidate to start his own business. The Harris’s, Rich, Joyce, and their daughters, Onnalee and Serina, moved from Nevada to be closer to family. Rich having prior business experience in Nevada, decided to open a computer store in the area, hence The Computer Den.
